I had chosen to include more historical data, including data being removed from the main upstream database. However, this also included a number of long-obsolete timezones which confused other software that assumed that all timezones included in pytz also existed in other copies of the database, such as tzdata or the system zoneinfo database. Whilst this assumption remains incorrect, I elected to turn off inclusion of the backdata before anyone relies on it. This will make future migration to the tzdata library and Python core zoneinfo smoother.
pytz 2022.2 / 2022b released2022-08-12T01:48:15.584979+00:002022-08-12T01:48:15.546230+00:00tag:launchpad.net,2022-08-12:/+announcement/30708Stuart Bishophttps://launchpad.net/~stub
pytz 2022.2 / 2022b is released.
pytz 2022.1 released2022-03-20T00:43:11.019232+00:002022-03-20T00:43:10.946706+00:00tag:launchpad.net,2022-03-20:/+announcement/30598Stuart Bishophttps://launchpad.net/~stub
pytz 2022.1 with the 2022a timezone database has been released.
