Only the minimum amount of Python code is built into the binary itself; other modules are imported from a zipfile loaded as a ramdisk. The contents of the zipfile can be edited and rebuilt without requiring a compiler.
First release, with binaries!2010-02-02T16:36:03.232131+00:002010-02-02T16:36:03.124554+00:00tag:launchpad.net,2010-02-02:/+announcement/5027Torne Wuffhttps://launchpad.net/~torne
Version 0.01 has been released, complete with precompiled binaries suitable for qemu or the Gumstix Verdex.
Initial wiki pages complete2010-02-02T15:37:35.959410+00:002010-02-02T15:37:35.860127+00:00tag:launchpad.net,2010-02-02:/+announcement/5025Torne Wuffhttps://launchpad.net/~torne
The initial brain-dump into the wiki is complete and it now contains a basic description of the pycorn architecture, and various information about the goals and status of the project.
More things happening :)2009-09-22T11:59:23.576166+00:002009-09-22T11:59:23.487632+00:00tag:launchpad.net,2009-09-22:/+announcement/3842Torne Wuffhttps://launchpad.net/~torne
It's been a while but I'm back to developing Pycorn now. I've refactored a lot of the underlying C code (it's now a proper library called embryo, which I guess is what a kernel comes from, no?) and there is support for accepting an initrd from the bootloader. Some tidyups are needed before I get to 0.01 but that'll be soon!
MMU enabled, code almost entirely machine-neutral2008-12-03T17:45:14.744253+00:002008-12-03T17:45:14.695394+00:00tag:launchpad.net,2008-12-03:/+announcement/1556Torne Wuffhttps://launchpad.net/~torne
Pycorn now boots into a virtual memory environment, using pretty much just generic ARM code. The pxa270 port now only contains some addresses in a link script :)
Python interpreter prompt works2008-08-21T11:24:04.159134+00:002008-08-21T11:24:04.055707+00:00tag:launchpad.net,2008-08-21:/+announcement/925Torne Wuffhttps://launchpad.net/~torne
Trunk is now able to build python and produce a kernel image which boots to a Python interpreter, with just one minor complaint about the absence of zipimport. :)
Hello World! (no, really)2008-08-19T17:55:26.903876+00:002008-08-19T17:55:26.856787+00:00tag:launchpad.net,2008-08-19:/+announcement/913Torne Wuffhttps://launchpad.net/~torne
Well, er, the latest push of trunk now has a full working build system in it that can build a target kernel that.. prints "Hello World!". It will set up QEMU and everything for you, and there are even instructions! Aren't you lucky people!

The python interpreter does work, honest, but I've not stuffed it into the nice shiny build system yet. Soon!
